SAP Solution Manager 7.2 – Changes and New Features

The new version of the SAP Solution Manager 7.2 is currently available in the ramp-up and is available for all SAP customers from July 2016.

The new version of the SAP Solution Manager 7.2 is available for all SAP customers from July 2016. And SAP ends the support for SAP Solution Manager 7.1 by end of 2017. Now all the customers are planning the upgrade to Solution Manager 7.2.   • Dashboard Conversion of the dual stack into two stacks (SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.4 ABAP and Java) is obligatory
  • SAP Solution Manager 7.2 can be implemented on both classical database systems and SAP HANA® platform
  • Migration to SAP HANA® is optional
  • No separate SAP HANA® license is required with SAP Solution Manager 7.2
  • Enhancement Package for CRM upgrade
  • BW upgrade to 7.4
  • Update to the NetWeaver 7.4 Platform
  • TREX is optional for SolMan implemented on SAP HANA® platform
  • Solution Manager 7.2 provides whole new User Experience with use of SAPUI5 & SAP Fiori®
  • SAP Fiori® are designed to support cross-platform devices


  • Revision of the surface with clear graphic representation of essential facts and figures
  • Incidents can be created directly via SAP Fiori® application
  • Transaction Ranking is a new way to create ranking among the incidents 
  • Bulletin Board, a new feature is a new way of overlapping information center to all users in the ITSM to create and share
  • New Notification Framework: Enables you to keep the Business Partners updated with custom notification
  • Subscription: Business Partners or group of Business Partners can even Subscribe to specific transactions


  • Central Inbox
  • Checklist improvements
  • Bulletin boards
  • SAP® Jam ™ Integration
  • Administrative activities using SAP GUI (for example, managing task schedules, tracking changes, etc.) are replaced by new the Administrative-Cockpit
  • You can use the Guided Procedure to create task plans in the WebClient UI
  • Change documents or requests can now be created based on an IT requirement for changes.
  • New change cycles are available:
    • SMRE (release cycle)
    • SMAI (new: continuous cycle, before: maintenance cycle)
    • SMIM: phase cycle (before: implementation cycle – SMDV and SMMN)


  • New approach All IT processes are central to the Solution Documentation
  • Eliminate the different types of projects (submission, implementation, maintenance projects), in the standard a report is made available for migration
  • Complete integration of test management into the new solution documentation
  • Simplified Usability


  • In the field of monitoring, the Technical Monitoring Work Center replaces the previous System Monitoring Work Center from 7.2 onwards
  • Maintenance Planner replaces the existing Maintenance Optimizer
