S/4HANA Readiness Checks – ATC Checks
The ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) is a useful SAP tool to perform static SAP checks. Various new checks for HANA and S/4HANA simplify the adjustment process during and after a migration. Additionally ATC is a very useful tool for checking custom code objects.
When migrating a database, you must ensure that the custom code is written, either implicitly or explicitly, database-specific. ATC offers checks that verify exactly that, especially for HANA . Read further in our blog Impact Analysis Post SAP HANA migration.
In addition, a S/4HANA check gives testers and developers the possibility to check their custom code for S/4HANA specific features (e.g. changing the material number in S/4HANA) and to compare it with the Simplification Database. This database contains all information on changed business processes in S/4HANA and corresponding links to helpful notes for customization, it is also available for download from SAP. However, this only works on Release SAP_BASIS 7.51 or higher. The SAP Solution Manager currently only runs on Release SAP_BASIS 7.4. That is why SAP recommends that you set up a remote system for ATC checks only, from which all systems contained in the system landscape can be analyzed. This leads to a simplification of the updating process if you want to use up-to-date ATC checks since updating is then only necessary centrally in the remote system and not individually for each system. The SAP Solution Manager then collects this information, making the results available centrally and consistently in the Solution Manager.
